ILLINOIS SMOKING BAN

On July 23, 2007, Rod Blagojevich , signed an Illinois State Public Smoking Ban despite the resistance of many business owners, especially those that serve alchohol. The State's opinion on the issue is that only twenty-two percent of Illinois residents smoke, so that leaves 70 percent of the population that will go out more, if their health is not at risk. My opinion.... there is absolutely no way to determine the exact effects of second hand smoke and the proof they do have is based on "junk science" used to fluff the law. This law is no less discriminating than banning obese people from eating out in public for fear that their bad eating habits might rub off on the rest of the public.

Our Constitutional Rights are being plucked away one by one. I know that smoking cigarettes is damaging to the human body, but to say that second hand smoke is the root of all evils where Cancer is concerned is utterly ridiculous. I would dare to say that the government is just trying to cover up the real issues causing our pollution illnesses. For instance, GM along with other high ranking officials squashed the electric car in California. The battery fueled car caused little to no pollution. They literally went to the door of people who refused to return the vehicles and towed them away. WHY? Because there is more money to be made from the COMBUSTION engine and until those resources deplete why not drive those environment killers all the way to the bank.

Now consider this...Put 10 people in a closed garage, all smoking cigarettes but 1....At the same time put 10 non-smoking people in a closed garage with a combustion engine car running....Wait 12 hours and see how many people make it out alive....I'm guessing 10...and all from the same garage.
